NEVERMORE is a water-drenched descent into the grim and wondrous imagination of Edgar Allan Poe. Drawing from his haunting poetry and darkly revelatory tales, the work transforms The Voxel--Baltimore's premiere space for theatrical incubation and new work-- into a shifting landscape of memory, downpours, obsession, and beauty, where movement, light, and madness blur the boundary between the living and the spectral.
Six performers navigate a water-soaked stage as rain falls unceasingly into a vast reflecting pool, the surface becoming a shifting window into the macabre heart of the world. Choreography, projection, media design, original sound composition, and sculptural lighting converge to create a landscape beyond words.
What remains of Poe’s work when language dissolves?
Only movement, shadow, rain...and something called NEVERMORE.
